VACCINES
How do we vaccinate our herd?
Our calves are given a respiratory vaccination within the first few days of birth.
At three months of age, they will receive a respiratory booster along with an 8-9 way clostridial vaccine.
Pink eye vaccines will be administered if the season calls for protection.
Scourguard, Multimin 90, Probios and electrolytes are on an as needed basis.
As our calves age, they will continue to receive annual boosters of both 8-9 way clostridial and respiratory vaccinations.
When our heifers age closer to breeding, we will provide them with vaccines to protect against reproductive disease.
Our Cows and bulls will receive annual boosters for clostridial and respiratory diseases with an added line of protection against reproductive diseases given at the same time.
Pink eye vaccines are administered in mid spring.
Deworming will occur in the Spring and Fall for all animals. We switch back and forth between the active ingredients to avoid resistance.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING CATTLE AS PETS
While cattle can make fun, love-able, cute pets, it is important to remember the following:
They are generally large animals without regard for their own size. They require space, company, food, and water.
They can have moods (remember that a bull is a bull no matter how much you love him!)
They could get protective especially if they just calved. Smaller animals and people (little kids too) can present themselves as a greater threat to a fresh cow.
Unfortunately, as with all animals; they may become ill beyond your ability of care and require veterinary assistance. This can get pricey and there is no guarantee. Please consider connecting with a local veterinary before making an investment in livestock.
